Dissolution point and isolation robustness: robustness criteria for general cluster analysis methods
Two robustness criteria are presented that are applicable to general clustering methods. Robustness and stability in cluster analysis are not only data dependent, but even cluster dependent. Robustness is in the present paper defined as a property of not only the clustering method, but also of every individual cluster in a data set. The main principles are: (a) dissimilarity measurement of an o...
متن کاملDissolution and isolation robustness of fixed point clusters
The concepts of a dissolution point (which is an adaptation of the breakdown point concept to cluster analysis) and isolation robustness are introduced for general clustering methods, generating possibly overlapping clusterings. Robustness theorems for fixed point clusters (Hennig (2002, 2003, 2005)) are shown.
متن کاملRobustness for Point Processes
We consider robustness for estimation of point processes parameters. An influence functional measures the effect of contamination on estimators. We derive some of its properties, and use it to propose an M-estimator alternative to the MLE for the inhomogeneous Poisson process case. We also show the consistency and asymptotic normality of this estimator.
متن کاملEvent-driven and Attribute-driven Robustness
Over five decades have passed since the first wave of robust optimization studies conducted by Soyster and Falk. It is outstanding that real-life applications of robust optimization are still swept aside; there is much more potential for investigating the exact nature of uncertainties to obtain intelligent robust models. For this purpose, in this study, we investigate a more refined description...
متن کاملRobustness Analysis of Adaptive Chinese Input Methods
This work proposes a novel metric, Maximally Amortized Cost (MAC), for cost evaluations of error correction of predictive Chinese input methods (IMs). With a series of real-time simulation, user correction behaviors are analyzed by estimating generalized backward compatibility of adaptive Chinese IMs. Comparisons between three IMs by using MAC with different context lengths report empirical fac...
